Extreme Mode is a community-made Insane Map by Botnot98SE. It has a total of 11 buttons (2 standard & 9 group) and is currently playable in FE2 Community Maps.

Design

Extreme Mode is meant to resemble its counterpart in Flood Escape Classic. As such, it is composed of two large rooms. The majority of the map is made of slate and corroded metal. There are also a few wooden boxes scattered around. Additionally, some glass panes have been added to prevent players from performing major skips in progression. Neon blocks that are placed on ceilings and walls of corridors give off light to aid vision in otherwise dark areas.

Gameplay

Players spawn inside of an elevator shaft and then have to progress through a corridor to reach a door. This door opens shortly after, revealing the first room. To prevent players from staying in the initial starting area, the elevator will collapse, revealing a pit of lava, and the door will begin to close. If players do not exit the area before the door shuts, they will drown to the rising lava. If players make it to the first room, they will have to push a button on a wooden box, revealing a truss. Players must then climb up the truss to walk on a horizontal truss to the next button. After pressing the button, a platform will rise from the floor, making it possible to reach the third button. A platform will extend from a wall, and players must backtrack to the second button to platform on some small platforms to reach another horizontal truss, leading to a few crates and the fourth button on a platform. The button reveals a small platform from the floor that makes the rest of the room accessible. By now, the water will have turned into lava. Players must then go through three falling platforms before reaching a few more platforms and the fifth button. The button extends a truss from the nearby wall and opens the exit door. Players must get back to the door before it shuts and the lava rises to the ceiling. Shortly after, the elevator will descend and reveal another hallway, leading to the second room. Players must climb up a slanted truss and jump on some platforms before reaching a slim platform and a truss on an elevated platform. Upon touching the truss, the slim platform will collapse, thus making the truss inaccessible. Players must then climb up the truss to get to a sideways truss and the next button. The button will make the sideways truss fall and reveal a platform from a wall. Players must go back to the slanted truss and go on this platform to cross another slim platform and climb on a pair of slanted trusses to get on some platforms leading to the next button. This button will make the slim platform collapse and reveal a slightly tilted platform from the nearby wall. Upon progressing, the next button will be located inside of a small platform with a hole. By the time players arrive there, the platform will be submerged, so players must dive under the water to press the button and jump out. After pressing the button, some small platforms will appear from some pillars and a sideways truss will connect to the truss on one of those pillars. Players must jump from pillar to pillar, eventually reaching the truss. The sideways truss leads to the next button, which reveals a platform on the opposite side of the sideways truss. Players must then jump and land on a short sideways truss connected to a long truss. This truss is connected to another truss, taking players to the second to last button. A wooden platform will extend from a nearby platform, allowing access to the final section. Players must traverse through a few platforms to reach the final button. This will make a nearby truss fall, making it harder to get back, and the exit door will begin to open. Players must get back to the door in order to beat the map.

Trivia

  • The order in which buttons are determined to be standard or group buttons matches that of how buttons were colored in the original Extreme Mode.
  • The map was originally intended to only contain the first room, but it was eventually decided to include the second room as well.
  • Most events performed by buttons are done via button functions, as to replicate the original's amount of movement.
  • There is an easter egg above the spawn that is only accessible by having the ability to infinitely jump or swim in lava. If a player jumps to the top or swims to the top of the lava when it has finished rising, they will find the original Extreme Mode lobby as well as the map image.
  • If a rescue mission is activated on this map, the escapee will be located on the floor of the first room, a reference to the first sneak peek of Extreme Mode by Crazyblox.
