Oxygen, (also known as Air) is one of, if not, the most vital aspect of Flood Escape 2.

The bar showing how much oxygen the player has

When a player first plays a level, their oxygen bar (bottom of screen) appears and starts with 100% (150% in Chill Mode) Air. If a player's air depletes completely, they will drown and return to the Lift. After exiting water, there is a one second delay before you regain oxygen. You regain it at 16/s.

Your Oxygen is defaulted to 100% upon starting a new round, and you would lose any Air Bubble Oxygen if you had any left over.

Air Bubble

Main article: Air Bubble

An air bubble is a semi-transparent blue sphere that gives players 300 additional air. This air cannot be restored, and players can only get this once. When it depletes or another round starts, it returns to default air. The bubble is used when a player needs to be underwater for a prolonged period of time. It works in lava (in Chill Mode) as lava only takes away 75 air a second.

Air bubbles can be found on certain maps kept by a translucent box. Players must press a specific button to remove it and access the bubble.

Note: Tanks from the Store CANNOT be used to increase your air, as they are for cosmetics.

Air Table (with Air Bubble Oxygen included)
Type Rate Approximate time before drowning Approximate time before drowning in Chill Mode
Water 8/s 50s 56.25s
Acid 30/s 13.3s 15s
Lava 75/s 0s 6s

Disclaimer: You can only swim in Acid and Lava with an air bubble in Chill Mode in Dark Sci-Forest, only if you collect the secret air bubble.

Trivia

  • You cannot swim unless your head is submerged.
  • When your air is decreased (ex. 69 air) and you take an air bubble (300 air), your default air will never increase back to full air if submerged until you head out of the water.
  • Before, the oxygen meter isn't shown as a percent and when you have below 20 air, the oxygen meter will gradually shake violently and turn red as your air decreases. This was changed in a recent update.
  • The highest amount of air you can have is 450. This is done by playing Crystal Caverns on Chill Mode and getting the air bubble without losing any air.
